Hi, I'm Ellie Taghavi.
ECE @ University of British Columbia
I have always been driven primarily by curiosity. This has led to a passion for the invisible micro things that shape our lives on the macro scale; from atoms and electrons to bits and bytes. I try to understand everything from first principles and through hands-on applications.
Very broadly, I love learning about / working on projects involving analog electronics, semiconductor fabrication, computer architecture, and robotics.
A few things about me
- Recently wrapped up an internship at helix sensors as one of their first hires and worked on everything from PCBs and testing to full-stack software
- Work on avionics and hardware at my university's rocketry team
- Been to 11 hackathons and have won 5
- I play the harp, read, and like to be obnoxious about the shows & anime I watch in my free time
Recent projects
-
Exploring use cases of custom piezoresistive and capacitive sensors for robot pre-training alongside ego-centric video data
-
Explorations in electrical engineering concepts. Started because nothing I learned in school about electronics was helping me actually become a better engineer. I add my writings and builds here whenever I find pockets of time
-
Hack the North 2026. Headset for people with hearing impairments built with AR glasses, NVIDIA Jetson, audio and haptic sensors hacked together on a breadboard and a beanie in 36hrs. Live audio transcription above each person's head, desciption of audio in the environment, and live haptic vibrations depending on intensity and location of surrounding audio
